Key Scripture Text to Guide Our Prayers for Our Haitian Brothers and Sisters:
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4–7)
It is such a struggle for us who serve alongside our Haitian brothers and sisters, not to be anxious. And as the Word of God in Philippians 4 instructs us so clearly, let us be first and foremost a praying people, interceding for our Haitian loved ones with spirits full of thanksgiving unto God. As we make our priestly kingdom petitions known to God in this way, He will give to us His peace, despite the lack of peace in Haiti and the anxiety we carry in our own hearts and minds. Christ will never leave us for forsake us, and here the Holy Spirit promises that He will safeguard our hearts and our minds from besetting troubles.
Here are our five most pressing requests which you may use to guide your prayers for our mission in Haiti:
• Pray that it might be God’s perfect will to destroy the power of the gangs.
• Pray that God would be pleased to raise up a God-fearing, ethical, and servantminded government to lead the nation back to civil order, stability, and security.
• Pray that the Lord will continue in His loving yet powerful way to protect the New Joy House children and all of the staff who daily look after them.
• Pray that Jesus will be continually glorified and His kingdom grown through the faithful efforts of our network of churches and pastors.
• Pray that God will mightily use the teachers and students engaged in our Bible college in the weeks, months and years ahead for Gospel transformation among the Haitian people.
